Hello Everyone!
Lots of conversation starters below to encourage discussion between you and your child about how their school week unfolded.
We have successfully completed our 3 sessions of Swim to Survive. So much progress between our first and last session. The same children who were jumping off the diving board during the last session were those who did not even want to get into the deep end of the pool.

In Math, we continue to look at Data Management. Last week was spent making conclusions with the data that was presented in either a bar graph or a pictograph. Ask your child why the KEY or  the SCALE is so important to understand when making conclusions.

After all the reading, modelling and shared writing, our class is now ready to start writing our descriptive writing paragraphs. Here, is a graphic organizer your child has been using and the success criteria or checklist to ensure your child has completed all the necessary parts to a good paragraph. Ask your child what his/her favourite place is and what senses they used to describe that place.

In Science, we investigated  what happens to structures that are under tension or compression. Ask your child which is an example of tension or compression in the photo.

Thanks to Mrs. MacAulay, the whole school got a chance to learn about the sport of curling. Ask your child to explain how points are awarded in the game.

In Art, we used mixed media to create our bulletin board for Remembrance Day. All are invited to our school's liturgy on Monday at 10:30am in the gym.

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER......

  • A note went home in your child's agenda last Tuesday regarding how to sign up on-line for an interview time to discuss the progress reports. These will occur this Thursday November 14th.  If you are having difficulty please let me know or call the school office and someone will be happy to walk you through the steps.
  • Special lunches are always on Tuesday UNLESS it is a snow day at which time the Subway or pizza lunch is postponed.
  • Library is always on Wednesday for us so please ensure all library books are returned.
  • Homework is usually due every Friday UNLESS it's a short week.
  • There is no school this coming Friday so the homework is due this Thursday
Have a good week. I know we will!
