Hello everyone!
Take a look and see what your child participated in this past week.
In Math, we learned about a math tool called a venn diagram.

We practised using the Venn as a whole class, then......
......the children sorted various things in the classroom based on two attributes independently.

Constructing a good survey questions was next on our list. We looked at what makes a survey question a good one.

Your child had a chance to collaborate with classmates to build a good survey question.

Below are the finished products...... We surveyed our class and the 2 other grade 3 classes.

Be sure to check back next week to see what kind of conclusions we came up with.

In Language, our class continues to work on descriptive writing but the focus last week was on interesting LEADS (introductions).

We did more experiments in Science. Our goal was to see how one piece of paper could be ALTERED to support a 200g load.
We had some failures........

....which made us try again.......and were SUCCESSFUL the 2nd and 3rd time around!

This past week we also had another amazing swimming lesson, a phenomenal spirit week and an interesting discussion about how Hallowe'en really is the eve of All Saints Day and All Souls Day which are 2 very important days in our Catholic culture.

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER......

  • Our last Swim to Survive is this coming Tuesday.
  • Subway Day is also this coming Tuesday.
  • Please continue to check your child's agenda daily.
  • Please continue to ensure your child has done their weekly homework and you have checked for any assessments that need to be reviewed and signed.
  • If you haven't already done so, please sign and return the bottom portion of your child's progress report card in the envelope.
  • Please stay tuned for the electronic sign up process for the interviews which will take place on Thursday November 14th.
  • Have a great week. I know we will!
