Hello Everyone,
As you know, what normally would have been a return from a well rested, memory filled March Break, has changed into a "glitch" for our classroom and greater global community. I will be in contact with every student's family this week to check in and offer any support I can.  Please also feel free to reach out to me via e mail at lisa.pietrantonio@ocsb.ca  (*Note that there is a period between first and last name).

Below are some excellent resources that you and your child can use at this time during this phase:

  • The student portal which links your child to many websites like Sora, Raz Kids, Zorbits, Infobits
  • If your child was at school on Friday they brought home their red Math duotang filled with the good learning we did from September through to March. This duotang would serve as a starting point to see what you can be reviewing with your child at home.
  • Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing is always encouraged. We have spent many lessons exploring why and when we use one of these skills. Now, we all have the time to practice using these skills. Practice and more practice will improve mental recall and efficiency in solving a multi-step problem.
  • Have spelling tests with these Grade 3 commonly misspelled words.

  • The Grade 3’s have been working with Sterling Park Retirement demonstrating the Gospel Value of Love. If your child (from any grade) would like to take the time to draw a picture or write a letter to one of the residents, I think it would really brighten their day. Your child can write or type a note of positive encouragement or tell a story about what they have been doing while they have been home. Share their work with me through Google, or take a photo or scan their letter and send it to me at Jennifer.alexander@ocsb.ca  I will print them off and deliver them to the residence. Thanks for sharing love and kindness during this stressful time.
Please continue to check this blog regularly as a means of keeping in touch and informed. As time goes on, we may use different systems and programs to provide more detailed lessons. I will continue to post any information to assist you to get into these programs.
Stay safe and remember to love one another even if we have been stuck in the same spaces for so long.
